3 Things I Wish I Knew Before Going Low-FODMAP

1. The low-FODMAP diet isn’t a forever diet

The low-FODMAP diet is not a diet you have to stick to for the rest of your life. It might take some weeks or perhaps even several months to work through the various phases of the diet and figure out what works best for you, but trust me when I say:

You will get the hang of it and figure out what works for you soon. Hang in there. It will get better!

2. You’re not alone!

Somewhere between 9 – 15% of the global population has Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and then we haven’t even begun to count those suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) – such as Crohn’s disease  –  and those diagnosed with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO).

You’re not alone! You’re one of many people with a gastrointestinal disorder, so no – you are not a restaurants worst nightmare (or at least, you’re not the only one who is, haha).

People who go gluten- and lactose free, for the heck of it or because “it’s a trend” – those individuals are a restaurants worst nightmare. Not you.

3. It’s still possible to eat delicious food

I know it feels impossible right now, because when you start out on the low-FODMAP diet, there are more things you can’t have, than things you can have, but garlic & onion aren’t the only ways to spice food.

There’s a lot of information out there and once you’ve done a little bit of research and downloaded the Monash University FODMAP app, you – too  will soon conclude what I concluded a long time ago: it’s not the end of the world.

Try our absolutely delicious and mouthwatering recipes – that will keep you free from symptoms – and see for yourself. You won’t regret it…!

Please note that we are NOT doctors & we do NOT provide any medical advice
If you’re struggling with symptoms – that could potentially be a gastrointestinal disorder like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) or Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) – we strongly suggest for you to seek medical help and recommend you to reach out to a healthcare professional, who can offer you the right guidance.

We want to emphasize that the low-FODMAP diet is a medically induced diet, that should be started only when a doctor diagnosed you with a gastrointestinal disorder and should always be done under strict supervision of a specialized dietician or other healthcare professional.

Nonetheless, we maintain strict policies when it comes to the prevention of spreading fake news. Our posts are written by research journalist @byellenmoore and are based upon both scientific research and her own personal experiences with being on the low-FODMAP diet, as a patient suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). We share what we know, to give you a better understanding of that from which you suffer, in order to make your journey – going low-FODMAP – a little bit easier!
