Everything You Need To Know About Monash University
If I could give you only one piece of advice, when it comes to starting the low-FODMAP diet, it would be to download the Monash FODMAP app.
Monash University is the world’s pioneer when it comes to the low-FODMAP diet. Located in Melbourne, Australia, the university developed the FODMAP app. An app aimed to provide guidance in your journey on the low-FODMAP diet, allowing you to regain control over your body and your symptoms.
“Backed by extensive lab testing and research, the Low-FODMAP diet differs from most in that it’s based on – and proven – by science. It’s not a fad, and it’s not a lifelong diet. It’s just a way for sufferers of IBS [ and / or SIBO ] to regain comfort and control.”*
What’s in the app?
The Monash FODMAP app contains “the largest database of FODMAP tested foods in the world, with regular free updates as new foods are tested.”*
With a traffic light system foods are classified as low-, moderate- or high in FODMAP’s. Allowing you to look up right about every food you can think of.
Additionally their app provides a bunch of advice on starting out on the low-FODMAP diet, with detailed explanations about what FODMAP’s are, the phases of the diet, how to read labels and way more.
It even contains a list with specialized dietitians all over the world, including their contact details.
It contains low-FODMAP recipes and a diary – which is perfect to keep track of your symptoms during the reintroduction phase of the low-FODMAP diet.
The app is an absolute necessity if you’re on the low-FODMAP diet or are about to start it and can be used as an excellent source of help – to make the low-FODMAP diet easier to understand for you, your friends & family.
Can’t find the answer in the app? Their blog and website www.monashfodmap.com are packed with more information, elaboration on analysis and research conducted by the University of Monash.
No, we’re not paid to say this. But yes, we wish we were.

Please note that we are NOT doctors & we do NOT provide any medical advice
If you’re struggling with symptoms – that could potentially be a gastrointestinal disorder like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) or Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) – we strongly suggest for you to seek medical help and recommend you to reach out to a healthcare professional, who can offer you the right guidance.
We want to emphasize that the low-FODMAP diet is a medically induced diet, that should be started only when a doctor diagnosed you with a gastrointestinal disorder and should always be done under strict supervision of a specialized dietician or other healthcare professional.
Nonetheless, we maintain strict policies when it comes to the prevention of spreading fake news. Our posts are written by research journalist @byellenmoore and are based upon both scientific research and her own personal experiences with being on the low-FODMAP diet, as a patient suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). We share what we know, to give you a better understanding of that from which you suffer, in order to make your journey – going low-FODMAP – a little bit easier!
